Jewelry Making Techniques
Page 14 Jewelry Making -- What a Beginner Needs to Know
|
Jewelry Making -- Infinity Earrings Once you have assembled the necessary jewelry tools and jewelry supplies begin this jewelry making project as described below. Step 1: Cut a segment of 20G jewelry wire 1 3/4 inches long using your flush cutter and the instructions on page 2. Step 2: Make a loop in the end of this segment of wire using your round nose pliers and the instructions on page 5. Step 3: Grasp the loop with your fingers and use it to hold the
jewelry wire
while you straighten the wire using instructions from
page 3. |
|
| Step 4: Position two metal pegs on your WigJig Delphi as shown
in the picture below, left. Place the loop in the wire on one of
these pegs. Step 5: Using your fingers push the jewelry wire around the other peg in the pattern. It is frequently best to push the wire with your thumb or forefinger from your dominant hand while you rotate the jig with your non-dominant hand. Apply the pressure with your fingers close to the metal peg and concentrate on keeping the rest of the wire straight. Step 6: Remove the wire from the jig and using your fingers or your nylon jaw pliers squeeze the loops in the wire to slightly flatten them. Step 7: Add your bead to the wire and slide it down so that it rests against the loops at the bottom. Step 8: Now grasp the vertical wire segment just above the bead with your bent chain nose pliers. Using your thumb, push the wire against the jaws of the pliers to create a bend of about 90 degrees as shown below, right. Review page 4 of our Beginners Jewelry Making Instructions for discussion on how to bend jewelry wire. |
