Alternative Configuration:

This alternative design for the Diamond Chandelier earrings jewelry making project uses two short segments of commercial chain to increase the length of the earrings, but uses shorter bead dangles.  The project is made in exactly the same manner as the design shown on pages 2 through 4, until you reach step 8.  Complete step 8 as shown on page 3, but do not use step 9.  Instead, proceed as discussed below.

Step 9a:  After completing Step 8, remove the wire from the jig and flip it over, replacing it on the jig.  The wire will now be in the position shown at right.  (For the earrings shown above right, I used a wire component made on the WigJig Cyclops using the peg pattern shown at right.)

Step 10a:  With the wire still on the jig, grab the wire tail and bend it up, while holding the wire component down on the jig.  The goal is that the wire tail should be pointing straight up.

Step 11a:  Remove the wire from the jig.  Grasp the wire just below the initial loop with your chain nose pliers in a manner that holds both the wire tail and the wire between the first and second loops (now on the left in the picture at right).  While holding these two wire segments, bend the wire tail over so that it crosses the top loop.  The wire will appear as shown below, right-center.
