There are five jewelry making techniques that are involved in making these earrings.  The first is to make the basic wire component by wrapping 20 gauge wire around pegs on the jig.  The second technique is to use a chasing hammer and anvil to harden the piece.  The third technique is to use chain nose pliers to bend and shape the wire.  The fourth technique is to wrap the 20G wire around itself to make the basic wire component into a stable piece.  The final jewelry making technique is to use very fine wire (24 or 26 gauge) to wrap around the 20G wire finishing the piece and setting the shape in place.

Jewelry Making Supplies Required:


Tools Required:

  • Ten inches of 20G wire per pair of earrings (1/2 hard wire will work best if available.)
  • 6 inches of 24G or 26G wire per pair
  • Four 6mm beads
  • Ear Wire Finding (one pair each)
  • Round Nose Pliers

  • Flush Cutter

  • Chain Nose or Bent Chain Nose Pliers

  • Chasing Hammer

  • Anvil

  • Nylon Jaw Pliers

  • WigJig Olympus, Olympus-Lite, Cyclops or Electra with 4 metal pegs

  • Two Super Pegs both either 3/8" or 1/2"

  • 30 minutes of free time
